Prop Bets Explained

A "prop" (proposition) bet wagers on an outcome inside a game rather than the game result. Player props (Kamara over 75 rushing yards), team props (Saints first to score), and game props (which quarter has the most points) are all forms of proposition betting.

Player props

The most popular prop category. Bet on individual statistical totals: passing yards, rushing yards, receiving yards, touchdowns scored, points scored, rebounds, assists, three-pointers. Player props are offered for every NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL game in Louisiana.

Louisiana college player prop ban

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board banned player prop bets on college athletes in April 2024 to protect student-athlete welfare. You can still bet LSU, Tulane, and ULL games on spreads, moneylines, totals, and team-level futures; but not on individual college player stats.

Team props

Wagers on team-specific outcomes: first team to score, total team points, team to score in every quarter, longest touchdown of the game. Team props remain legal on all sports including college.

Game props and exotic markets

Bets on game-state outcomes: total field goals, coin toss result, overtime yes/no, Gatorade color for the Super Bowl. Exotic props peak around the Super Bowl when sportsbooks publish hundreds of one-off markets.
